1. What is the IEEE Responsible Procurement of AI (RP-AI) training?
A self-paced, half-day online course designed to help procurement professionals responsibly acquire AI systems. It is grounded in the IEEE 3119™ standard and includes practical tools, templates, and a certificate of completion.
2. Is the IEEE 3119™ Standard included in the course?
Yes. A PDF copy of the IEEE 3119™ Standard is included with your course purchase. This standard is essential to the training and provides the foundational framework for responsible AI procurement.

3. How long does the course take to complete?
Approximately 4-5 hours. You can complete it at your own pace.
4. Can I complete the course in multiple sittings?
The course is self-paced, meaning you can complete it at your own convenience and in multiple sittings. You don’t need to finish all modules in one go. You can feel free to pause and return whenever it suits your schedule.
5. What do I receive upon completion?
You’ll receive a Certificate of Completion from IEEE SA with a verifiable digital badge. The certificate reflects your achievement in completing a focused, skill-based training aligned with the IEEE 3119™ Standard.
6. Is there an exam?
Yes. The course includes a Final Assessment (exam) that must be completed after finishing all training modules. It includes a combination of multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank, and free-response questions.
7. How long is the final assessment, and can I pause it once started?
The final assessment is 90 minutes long and must be completed in one sitting. Once you begin, you’ll need to finish the exam without pausing..
8. What is the passing score?
You must score 80% or higher to pass.
9. How many attempts do I get?
You are allowed two attempts at no additional cost.
10. What if I fail the first attempt?
You can retake the exam once at no additional cost. To schedule your retake, please email Support BLP for further guidance.
11. Is there a fee for the second attempt?
No. The second attempt is included in your course fee.
12. What happens if I need a third attempt?
Currently, the policy allows two attempts to pass the final assessment. If you require a third attempt, a retake fee of $50 applies. Please contact support-blp@ieee.org for further guidance and to initiate the scheduling process.
13. How long does it take to receive my certificate?
Certificates are typically issued within 48 - 72 hours after successful completion of the final assessment.
14. Is there a discount for IEEE members or students?
Currently, no additional discounts are offered for IEEE members or students. The course already includes a 10% Early Bird discount available until October 31, 2025.
15. Is institutional access available?
Yes. Institutional access is available for teams, departments, or large groups. We offer tailored pricing, volume discounts, and regional pricing options.

16. Is live or in-person training available?
At this time, the IEEE Responsible Procurement of AI training is offered only in a self-paced online format via the IEEE Blended Learning Platform (BLP).
Live virtual or in-person formats are not currently offered. The focus is to create a smooth, asynchronous learning experience for individual and institutional participants, allowing them to complete the training at a time and pace that suits their preferences.
